Jason Berman & Barb Van Horn have been working together as a team for over seven years. Barb & Jason have developed a strong efficient process that produces consistent underwriting decisions and closings on-time.

Jason Berman Mortgage & Technology Consultant

Jason Berman began working in the mortgage industry in 1993. He founded Sierra Funding in 1995 and grew the company into one of the premier mortgage planning practices in Colorado.

In 2004, Jason was elected to the Board of Directors for the Colorado Association of Mortgage Brokers (CAMB). He served as President of the association in 2006 where he successfully led the effort to pass minimum standards for mortgage brokers working in the State of Colorado. The regulation, passed in 2006, required all mortgage brokers within the state of Colorado to obtain federal background checks and become registered to practice origination in the state.

Jason has participated on the BBB Trade Practices Group, Colorado Housing Council, & testified before House & Senate sub-committees on the impact of pending legislation for the mortgage industry.

He has served nationally on NAMB committees and was appointed to participate on the Governor’s Mortgage Broker Education Taskforce to advise the Colorado Division of Real Estate on the implementation of the January 1st, 2009 requirement that all mortgage brokers take 40 hours of pre-licensing education.

Jason is also the lead organizer for REBlogWorld, an annual Blogging & Social Networking conference for Real Estate professionals held in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year the conference will take place at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino on October 14-16, 2010.

Jason resides in Frisco, Colorado where he operates one of the first virtual mortgage practices in Colorado.

Barb Van Horn Processing Specialist

Barb Van Horn has been with The J. Berman Group since 2003 and has been processing Conventional, FHA and VA mortgage transactions for nine years.

Barb works tirelessly to promote proactive communication with our customers during the home financing process. She is known for her friendly customer service, which ensures a pleasant and smooth home financing experience not only for our customers, but every professional involved in the transaction.

In October of 2009, Barb obtained her Colorado Mortgage Brokers license. This adds another licensed professional to the team and gives Barb the ability to educate and discuss all aspects of the loan with our customers.

Barb is a study in Kaizen. Continually improving The J. Berman Group’s proprietary systems to allow for ever quicker and more simple processes to become part of the team’s financing workflow.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Barb resides in Highlands Ranch with her husband, Todd. Barb enjoys spending time with her five nieces, road trips in and around the Rockies, the Denver sports scene, relaxing in her garden, and sharing batches of her latest homemade wines with friends and family.
